Designated Accommodation Areas

In addition to the different accommodation available, we have the following designated areas for those students who have specific living preferences or requirements, such as single-sex, alcohol free, or to live with Welsh speaking students. Accessible or adapted rooms are also available. We will always try to accommodate students within these options where possible. Please make sure you specify on your application if you would like to live in a designated area.

Accommodation for Welsh Speakers

We offer specific accommodation areas for students who want Welsh speaking flatmates. Aelwyd Penmaen is located on the Singleton Campus and Aelwyd Emlyn on the Bay Campus.

Quieter Accommodation

We understand that some students want and need quieter accommodation. Here, noise is restricted between 11pm & 8am and during the exam periods.

Please note, it is not possible to regulate the levels of external or environmental noises.

Single Sex Area

This is accommodation that is for students who wish to live with the same sex only. You can opt for this in the option when making an application.

Please note, if you choose this option, you will not be able to have visitors of the opposite sex stay in residences.

Alcohol Free Area

Alcohol-free flats are for students who choose not to live around alcohol - Students agree not to consume or store alcohol within the flat/House and it is essential this agreement is upheld throughout the student’s tenancy.

Mature & Postgraduate Areas

Mature students are defined as any student aged 21 or over at the start of their studies.

Postgraduate area - Usually 51-week courses and study after your initial degree. Studying full time is a popular choice for students who have just completed their undergraduate degree and already know that a postgraduate qualification is required for their career plans.

Non-Standard Course Length

These are normally for an early start and late finish course dates outside of the regular 40-week cohort. We can support you with this and there are options to adjust your tenancy contract via the accommodation.
